My future Africa

Made in Africa Foundation is a non-profit founded by Savile Row tailor Ozwald Boateng, to catalyse the large-scale investment needed to reduce Africa's significant infrastructure deficit. De Charles provided narrative and digital support for Made in Africa Foundation's 'Our Future Made in Africa' gala event in Marrakech.

“$400 million of funding for feasibility studies and master plans across sub-Saharan Africa would develop over US$100 billion of infrastructure projects, which in turn would create a trillion dollars of value across Africa.”

De Charles worked with Made in Africa Foundation to build the narrative, call to action, and digital platforms for their Our Future Made in Africa event, aimed at generating awareness and funds for their cause. The gala event was adequately timed to celebrate Africa’s progress fifty years after the founding of the African Union. In collaboration with the African Banker Awards and supported by Atlantic Energy, the event took place at the Taj Palace Hotel in Marrakech, Morocco.
Internationally-renowned designer and foundation co-founder Ozwald Boateng OBE curated a fashion show for the event, which featured four designers of African origin namely, Amine Bendriouich (Tunisian), Pierre Antoine Vettorello (French Ivoirian), Samantha Cole (British-Nigerian), and Mimi Plange (Ghanaian-born Californian), and 30 models including Sessilee Lopez and Sonja Wanda. Additionally, there were performances from John Legend, Akon, Youssou N’Dour, and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def). The night built up to the premier of Made in Africa Foundation’s short film titled Our future Africa, which was made to raise awareness of Africa’s possibilities going forward.

"Made in Africa Foundation sought De Charles to help build a core message for their ‘Our Future Made in Africa’ event in Marrakesh, and, with several international journalists present, control the live propagation of information across traditional press and social media.”
